Heather should have everything she could have ever wanted this Christmas… but despite a loving supportive husband and admittedly his sometimes unruly twin sons, she feels like every day is a struggle. Culture-shock and isolation have hit harder than ever, Heather being a city girl, her husband living on his own acreage way out as far as one can get from any cities or towns. But should Heather appreciate what she has, and will making a wish on the Santa Star forever change both her life and her marriage in ways she can’t yet imagine?<\/p>\n

Every year for 25 days and nights, the Santa Star comet makes a return to earth, dazzling millions who see it each and every night streaking across the night sky, brighter than the moon. But since it arrived, the idea of making a wish upon it has become a favorite pastime for those desperately seeking a change in their lives. Unknown to future wishers, those making the wishes have frequently had their wishes granted in ways that forever alter their minds, bodies, and lives, never to be the same again.<\/p>\n

So on an unusually warm country evening, when Heather is cleaning up in the kitchen after a wonderful meal she made, her frustrations about the marriage linger. She’s likely never going to truly fit in with her husband and his boys. Wyatt assures her she is perfect the way she is, but his sons deal with their teenage angst sometimes in cruel ways, recently calling her a city slicker slut. All she really wants is to be the cowgirl her cowboy husband deserves, that they all would accept and not just tolerate. Unfortunately, Heather feels certain that no amount of adjustment time or acting the part will change anything about her city origins.<\/p>\n

Unless of course there were any truth to the myth of the Santa Star. As crazy as the world has seemed in recent years, crazier things have happened, so Heather goes out and looks up into the night sky. She wishes she was a cowgirl, the perfect cowgirl for Wyatt and the boys, and that she always did whatever cowgirl thing it took to fit in perfect around there.<\/p>\n

Waking up the next day, Heather finds Wyatt gone, up before dawn and in the fields like a true cowboy she thinks. And the feeling is stronger than ever that he deserves a real cowgirl by his side. So after finding a button up plaid top and cutting away the buttons, tying it off, matching it to some jeans she cuts into the shortest most country looking cutoffs she’d ever seen, Heather is already feeling more like a cowgirl.<\/p>\n

But why is she talking more and more with a country drawl, and why does her chest feel more and more bloated? When Heather heads out to find her husband, coming across a cow grazing, everything about her wish may become clear as Heather finds herself amused by getting on all fours and mimicking the cow, thinking more and more of herself as Heifer and not the old city slicker slut Heather, although in the end she may just become the perfect blend of both.<\/p>\n

The 12 Days of Krismas wouldn’t be complete without some wacky wishes on the Santa Star and this one is sure to keep the month moooo-ving right along.<\/p>\n
