Readers Choice Month celebrates independence with a little test about how best to serve one’s country at Independence High School.<\/p>\n

The best and brightest of the senior class are about to find test taking taken to a new extreme as some friendly men in uniform present them with the Strategic Military Utilization Test. Their grades may be high but all of them will find their thoughts sinking to new lows.<\/p>\n

As the Principal of Independence High School, Ken Mitchell is very surprised to greet two men in military uniforms outside the school one day. He’s further surprised to find that apparently they are traveling from school to school offering a special test for students that will help survey information on how they could best serve their country.<\/p>\n

With the phones and other communications cut and hardly any staff in the building, Ken is embarrassed and of course invites the men to come inside. Unfortunately only seven students are available for testing, some of the more advanced seniors working together as part of an achievement workshop.<\/p>\n

The men present the students and even offer Ken Mitchell the opportunity to take the Strategic Military Utilization Test, a simple yes no pamphlet where there are no wrong answers.<\/p>\n

Leaving the students and their Principal alone to work through the questions, the men wait outside but is there more to their motives than just patriotic service? Is there a reason the test questions seem to change with every blink of the eye or is it simply the small typed print? And ultimately will any of these best and brightest of Independence High make it through the test without losing themselves to the overwhelming chaos building up inside them?<\/p>\n
