Wicked Winking: Breaking the Story by Kris P. Kreme

Jake Simms was a journalist until a commitment to the truth no longer mattered. Corrupt politics, power-mad wealthy elite, the world began to go under and he wasn’t going to let the truth behind threats they dismissed as fake news go untold.

That’s when he began exposing the truth to a growing online audience with regular Breaking the Story videos. An upcoming video may be too big to ignore, Breaking the Story on SINtendo.

With the help of his girl Friday, Jennifer, they have a meeting with Scotty, survivor of a SINtendo game with a curse called Wicked Winking. But after the meeting will Jake and Jennifer have a better video to share, a truly twisted way of exposing more than the truth?

Jake Simms is an old gumshoe in a new world, but he has made the most of it, after a successful career in honest journalism. When the world began no longer trusting the news stories on the air, and when crazies began buying power and fabricating their own truth, Jake Simms adapted and has made an online following through his Breaking the Story videos.

But when his latest and quite likely greatest upcoming episode is set to finally pull bare the threads of conspiracy and danger behind a mysterious gaming company called SINtendo… it may not be just the story that gets broken.

Thanks to his girl Friday, Jennifer, Jake has hit on the absolute perfect way of getting otherwise unreachable interviews and evidence. A young journalist hopeful herself, Jennifer is every bit as dedicated to doing what she does best, flying under the suspicion of any prospective witness or interviewee. But naturally even a pretty face can only go so far.

In a recent attempt, Breaking the Story on Deliniac Tower, a supposedly dangerously haunted tower in the middle of wooded mountains, the security and fencing proved too much to get past, no pretty face able to break the truth behind that danger. And then there of course are companies like Trance-tory where the power and influence they wield makes getting close to anything not only difficult but deadly.

And yet, Jake Simms and Jennifer have finally had a major break in the ongoing investigative story about what true threats SINtendo poses to the minds and morals of society at large. That’s because Jennifer has exactly the essentials for an arranged meeting and interview with a survivor of one of the dangerous games SINtendo markets subversively to adult gamers.

Scotty apparently attempted to play a game called SINtendo Wicked Winking, and reports are that when the game was lost, the family member playing the game at the time suffered the curse of Wicked Winking. While wild rumors and speculation online only mentioned that the curse suffered would corrupt the person inflicted with it, anything they said, anything they demanded, or even suggested would become the immediate obsession of anyone who they spoke to saying it… as long as the one listening saw them wink one eye.

It’s a crazy urban legend, or is it? Jake Simms is about to finally get firsthand evidence, thanks to his secret weapon, the innocent looking Jennifer who can always earn the trust of otherwise shaky witnesses.

And as Jennifer goes down the block from Jake’s investigation offices, meeting this Scotty guy at a nearby coffee shop to get all the dirt, Jake is pacing in his office, hoping that he has accounted for everything, and that this next Breaking the Story video will truly be the one that finally makes his channel too big to ignore any longer, exposing just the first of many major threats facing the world today.

But what if there’s an element to the story, no one could have counted on, a detail overlooked? What if Scotty didn’t just watch his family get corrupted by Wicked Winking… what if in the end, he was corrupted as well and all of this is just to put a lid on Breaking the Story?

Sounds like a conspiracy? You might be right… but when Jennifer returns with all the evidence needed, will Jake Simms finally have the story he always wanted to break for his viewing audience… or will he suddenly have something, or rather someone else, to put in front of the camera and break?

Can you trust what you read online, what you view online… can you trust anyone who has information to share, especially if they wink while telling you?
