SINtendo September ends at the beginning… of everything. The place is Kyoto, Japan, a city of unmatched natural beauty where the harmony between old world traditions and modern business thrives… in 1960.

A mysteriously powerful and intelligent man, whose family has known much success, is experimenting in a new technology the likes of which even computers has never known. And for his ongoing work, he has brought several women to assist in the groundbreaking procedure to connect into the depths of the human mind using a device he has created called simply the monitor.

This yellow picture tube is the last these women know, and the latest of those women has escaped, desperate to reach the temple atop Mount Inari. But Monica, dressed in traditional Geisha attire has no hope of escaping her pursuers, the evil spirits who move mystically through the darkness. The real question will be if an American newcomer to this ancient land, Kiera Puckman can fair much better?

Keira has come to break out of the limitations on women back in the states, limitations that say a pretty young woman such as herself would best be served in a kitchen or with a man doing her thinking for her. A brilliant mind, she has been corresponding with a brilliant Japanese scientist, a man of unique cultural heritage who thinks beyond mere limitations in all that he does… a man of the most unusual name Clyde Yoshida.

Meeting her outside his palatial Kyoto residence, Clyde explains that his given name Obake unfortunately has fearsome connotations in traditional Japan, a culture of superstition, currently wrought by protests over renewing American relations. But Clyde, as he has adopted as his prefered name, believes in no such fears, embracing Kiera as the solution to his troubles with groundbreaking work bridging the mind with technology, work he proudly claims will one day bring joy and entertainment into the homes of everyone.

As he gives Kiera the tour, he describes his current work as a game, something he has been contracted to work on in order to continue his true research, and the game as it were is for a man named Toru Iwatani, a man who decades later may take that game and release a much less severe version than the one Clyde is focusing on.

Along the tour, Clyde references his fiercest rival, a man named Fusajiro whose company has been central to Kyoto since the late 1800s, a company that has produced toys most recently though has similar ambitions for computer entertainment in the future. Clyde aims to mock Fusajiro in all that he does, to surpass the definition of computer entertainment, to truly revolutionize gaming and entertainment… and in doing so to finally put aside the name he was given, Obake.

Believing Kiera can do the same, the part of her last name Puck coming from a malicious fairy in its British origins, will the two of them truly complete the final steps in establishing Clyde Yoshida’s legacy… a company that will become known as SINtendo?

It all depends on the monitor, a yellow-molded tube screen that Kiera is led to believe will focus her thoughts into colorful blobs on the screen. But just what are those blobs in a day and age when color TV is still relatively new? Just what is the true purpose of the monitor? And is it about to do so much more than merge thought with technology?

Find out in the epic origin story, the one and only beginning of a gaming company that would one day be responsible for every SINtendo tale to date. Get ready for ORIGINal SIN!
