Time for Fertile Fears by Kris P. Kreme
June’s latest jump through time nearly sends her into the path of a speeding SUV on unpaved roads. And she just knows the occupants of that vehicle are who she is here to stop from becoming the latest characters in another Tale from the Kreme.
But lost in the wilderness, the only help comes in the form of a sheriff, confused by her appearance, fascinated and easily charmed to help her follow that SUV. The three in that SUV though are college grad students seeking a place of myth and mystery, a place one only finds by purposely becoming lost.
And in the end, all of them, June included, may get sucked into the fertile temptations that only stretch outward from within the town of Fertile Fields.
So far in her epic misadventure, June O has been trapped at the center of an explosion aboard a Plutonian Chaos Cube that sent her body hurtling through time, landing in places both familiar and new, time periods of the past, meeting people she recognized as characters from previous Tales from the Kreme. Unable to stop them from becoming those characters in an effort to break out of the time jumps back where she belongs in 2026, the latest stop truly leaves her lost in more ways than one.
Stepping out of the ball of iridescent lightning that she experiences with each time jump, June O first believes this is the smoothest landing yet, a peaceful silence to the forest broken as a speeding SUV nearly takes a corner on unpaved roads right into her.
Diving out of the way, she can only watch as the SUV speeds away, whoever is inside the likely characters she is here to stop from ending up forever a part of a newly forming Tale from the Kreme.
But when a sheriff out patrolling the wilderness roads finds June O, dressed as she is, will he be able to help her catch up to the kids in that SUV, or will a force greater than all of them take more than their intentions into quite Fertile places?
It is Friday, May 26, 2017, and Veronica is leading a group of friends and fellow students, Dylan and Kelly on a documented search to possibly prove the existence of a town like no other… a place storied to be where everyone lost ends up, a place they liken to Roanoke and the lost colony there hundreds of years ago.
But as careful as these three have been, will the strange sign they come across after intentionally driving carelessly on unmarked backwoods roads welcome them to more than just Fertile Fields?
Their own fears may become fantasies as June O desperately tries to catch up to them before they are gone forever. And in her race to stop them, she may be equally unable to stop her own desires and lust from falling victim to the influences of Fertile Fields and everything it represents.
June’s journey through time is nowhere close to being over, and this may be a journey where time is not always on her side, but it’s always tempting her into fertile fears.
